Explore single-track trails
Open access days offer a great opportunity to explore two seldom-hiked single-track trails: Rabbit Run and Fox Run. They’re rocky and steep, but a fun challenge offering fabulous views. Access the loop off Serrano Ridge.

Hike under a full moon
These hikes start as sunset hikes, a wonderful way to experience the tranquility and beauty of Bommer Canyon Preserve as night falls. The 3-mile hikes are docent-led and include a steep ascent, so participants should be in good shape.

Try a challenging route
On open access days, leave from Cattle Camp up Ridge Route and head down East Fork – or the other way around. In the summer, alien-looking chalk dudleya can be seen in profusion, along with wildflowers.
