Wild Rivers will postpone its grand opening to July 10, officials for the much-anticipated water park said Tuesday, citing delays in construction caused by supply chain troubles.
The water park, a new take on an old favorite in Irvine that kept visitors cool for more than 25 years before closing in 2011, was initially set to open its gates June 20, but officials had to push back that date to July 1.
Tickets for July 1-9 had gone on sale last week at a discounted price for what was supposed to be a “soft opening” of the park. But in an email to guests Tuesday, June 28, Wild Rivers officials said another postponement was in order.
“We are committed to building Southern California’s best-in-class water park experience, but have been severely impacted by supply chain issues causing construction delays,” the email said.
Located in Irvine’s Great Park, Wild Rivers will feature a number of water rides, including individual slides and group coasters, as well as a lazy river and kids play area.
Those who purchased tickets or cabana reservations for days before July 10 can reschedule or get a refund starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday by calling guest services at 949-749-1900 or going to the Wild Rivers website, park officials said.
