Dolly Parton — country music legend, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, actor and novelist — has added another credit to her résumé: Taco Bell pitchwoman.
Parton has confirmed her role in “Mexican Pizza: The Musical,” a video that will premiere on the social media site TikTok at 5 p.m. May 26, according to the Irvine-based fast food giant.

The video will dramatize how Mexican Pizza fans successfully lobbied the company to restore the item to the chain’s menu, which will happen on May 19.
The project will also feature Doja Cat, a rapper who has been pushing for the return of Mexican Pizza for months.
Doja Cat hinted that Taco Bell would reinstate Mexican Pizza during her headliner set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last month. A couple of hours later, Taco Bell released a press release with details of Mexican Pizza’s return on May 19.
Parton, another high-profile fan of the snack. posted a tantalizing photo on Instagram of a script for “Taco Bell: The Musical,” featuring her name along with other TikTok talent, including Victor Kunda, who posted a video about a Mexican Pizza musical, songwriters Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.
Taco Bell created a cover for a Broadway program and posted it on Facebook.
Taco Bell pulled Mexican Pizza from its menu in November 2020, igniting about 200,000 fans to join a campaign to bring it back, according to the chain. Mexican Pizza is similar to a tostada with taco filling between two crispy tortillas which are then topped with sauce, cheese and chopped tomato.
Home delivery of Mexican Pizza will be exclusively available from DoorDash from May 19-26 and then become available through other delivery platforms, according to Taco Bell.
