Fast-casual destinations are great for a quick burger. But when only sit-down, full-service and top-notch ingredients will do, consider these more elevated restaurants.

Eureka! | University Center

At convivial Eureka!, go a little wild and try an offbeat option. Flavor-packed favorite The Bison is finished with charred red bell peppers, bacon-infused jalapeno jam, smoked mozzarella and whiskey-caramelized onions. The unforgettable Fresno Fig adds melted goat cheese, bacon, arugula, fig marmalade and spicy Porter mustard. The 28-day-dry-aged beef burger is more subtle, with bone marrow, shiitake butter and horseradish mustard aioli. Burger lovers keep their eyes on the fries – but here they might opt for the mac ’n’ cheese balls with Fresno chiles, chives and Parmesan-beer sauce.

Zov’s | Orchard Hills

Zov Karamardian, legendary among OC chefs and restaurateurs, is renowned for her renditions of Mediterranean lamb dishes, notably roasted rack of lamb with pomegranate garlic sauce and lamb shish kebab with eggplant ratatouille. Her more contemporary spicy lamb burger – with sundried tomato, red onion, feta and red-pepper aioli – was another immediate and lasting success. It graces the cover of her highly regarded cookbook, “Simply Zov.” Karamardian’s burgers don’t even need meat to be beautiful; consider her one-of-a-kind veggie burger with quinoa, chia, sunflower seeds, roasted kale, butternut squash, hummus spread and tzatziki – and request the Greek salad side.

Del Frisco’s Grille | Irvine Spectrum Center

The stylish New American eatery that many point to for the city’s finest steaks also serves a filet burger: a generous, super-juicy, intensely flavorful patty of ground filet mignon pushed over the top with aged white cheddar, melted onions, baby arugula and butcher-cut bacon. The dazzler is the work of chef Ariel Contreras-Fox, winner of an all-star season of Gordon Ramsay’s reality TV series “Hell’s Kitchen.” Her Grille cheeseburger is another commanding presence, a many-layered wonder that packs on the nostalgia with double-stacked patties over American cheese, lettuce, red onion, tomato, pickles and sloppy sauce.
