Broken Yolk Cafe | Crossroads

Live on the sunny side at Broken Yolk Cafe. The SoCal breakfast, brunch and lunch magnet for 45 years now serves its Benedicts and mimosas and other favorites in Irvine. The menu is comprehensive and creative. Can’t decide? The Choose Two delivers half of any two Benedicts, such as the Caprese or Mexican-inspired Sope. The Sweet Trio presents Tiki Toast, Crunchy French Toast and a Cinna-Cake.

The Bagel Shack | Alton Square

Choices, choices, choices. The Bagel Shack offers at least a dozen types of bagels, eight flavors of cream cheese and a dozen other toppings, including smoked salmon, hummus or peanut butter and jam. Bagel sandwiches named for OC surf spots – such as the Wedge with bacon, avocado and lemon pepper – are customizable, too. Try that one on a jalapeno cheddar bagel with chive cream cheese.

J&G Fried Chicken | Irvine Spectrum Center

Fifty years and 500 locations after its founding on a street corner in Taiwan, J&G has launched in the U.S. Up next, in partnership with nearby 85°C Bakery Cafe, is Irvine. J&G’s signature popcorn chicken still uses the original street-food recipe for the crispy fried bites. Newer to the menu are six kinds of chicken sandwiches, garlicky tempura-battered king oyster mushrooms and fried-mochi yam-and-purple-potato balls.
