With the bulk of the Los Angeles wildfires seeing boosted containment, and rebuilding and cleanup efforts underway, restaurants in Orange County and beyond will reconvene to host another daylong fundraiser for fire-relief efforts.

So far, nearly 40 restaurants have already agreed to take part in this second round of dine-out fundraising, pledging to donate 20% of all sales on Tuesday, Feb. 4, to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

“Last time we had nearly 200 businesses join us in five days. Imagine the impact we could make if businesses in all 202 cities across these six counties joined us for the cause,” said Jill Cook, a restaurant publicist and one of the co-founders of Restaurants Give Back, in a written statement. “Food insecurity caused by the fires is one of the most immediate threats we can begin to tackle, and this is a way to make a big impact with one united effort.”

“I think we all know someone who was directly affected by the devastation and to see the amount of community that has banded together to help is something to behold,” said Cesar Cortez, chef and owner of pop-up El Brewjo. “We are grateful to Jill Cook of Restaurants Give Back and Rōm for allowing us to be able to be a part of something that together will make a significant difference.”

With additional names and places expected to grow in the coming weeks, here are the confirmed OC restaurants participating in the event:

Restaurants outside O.C. participating in Restaurants Give Back’s fundraising efforts include Philly’s Best (in Chino, Downey and San Dimas), Johnny Carino’s (Downey), Palenque Kitchen (Riverside), Espadin (Temecula), Crush n’Brew (Temecula), Thompson and Twain (Temecula) and Mountain Mike’s Pizza (Lathrop, Lodi, Manteca, Mountain House and Tracy), to name a few.

The inaugural daylong fundraiser, held on Jan. 14, pulled in estimated $222,000, according to Restaurants Give Back. Donated money will go to purchasing around 900,000 pounds of food, enough for 750,000 meals that will be packaged in 5,525 emergency food boxes, each one with enough food to feed a family of four for up to a week and a half, according to LA Food Bank statistics.

The newly christened Restaurants Give Back effort (founded by restaurant public relations flacks Jill Cook of Jill Cook Marketing + PR, Niyaz Pirani of Knife & Spork Public Relations and Jennifer Wales of Wales Communications) still seeks restaurants that are willing to participate (not restaurants affected or destroyed by the fires, which are still reeling from the blazes).

Eateries and food businesses across the six Southern California counties of Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego who want to join can sign up at RestaurantsGiveBack.com.

Hundreds of restaurants throughout Los Angeles County are also preparing special menus for 15 days, from Jan. 24 through Feb. 7, for Dine LA, a separate relief effort that will help donate $5 to the American Red Cross for each reservation made through the Dine LA website.

Other Orange County restaurants have stepped in to help over the last couple of weeks, including Haven Craft Kitchen + Bar, Provisions Deli and Bottle Shop, and Chapman Crafted Beer in Orange, which donated a day’s worth of revenue to the Red Cross, and chef Andrew Gruel of Calico Fish House, who offered free meals to anyone affected by the fires, as well as use of his Huntington Beach restaurant’s parking lot.

The ongoing Los Angeles wildfires, which ignited on Jan. 7, have burned through the Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, Altadena and Sylmar areas, torching more than 40,500 acres; destroying roughly 17,200 structures, homes and other businesses; and killing at least 28. The Hughes fire near Santa Clarita, which started on Jan. 22, has so far burned an estimated 10,000 acres.
