A pair of UC Irvine scholars have been awarded Guggenheim Fellowships, considered among the most prestigious grant programs in North America.
Professors Wang Feng and Gene Tsudik join 186 scientists and scholars named 2024 Guggenheim fellows.
The fellowships are awarded annually by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation to those demonstrating exceptional capacity for scholarship or creativity.
A sociology professor, Feng studies population shifts, policies and social inequalities in China. He’ll use his fellowship to complete a book on the politics of China’s one-child policy.
Tsudik is a distinguished professor of computer science and a Fulbright scholar. He’ll use his fellowship to further research on building devices resilient against malware.
